Calanthe discolor is an orchid native to Japan, China, and Korea. It’s a flower of great significance in Asian culture and it’s used all over the world as a decoration. It’s a beautiful plant, after all. More than this, though, it’s used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat wounds and infected skin, due to its disinfectant and regenerative properties.
It’s no wonder, then, that all this makes it an endangered plant – people are excessively plucking it out of its natural environment so that they can sell it in flower markets or online. How do plant stem cells for skin work?
