Plant stem cell for skin: The future of anti-aging with Orchistem™

Calanthe discolor is an orchid native to Japan, China, and Korea. It’s a flower of great significance in Asian culture and it’s used all over the world as a decoration. It’s a beautiful plant, after all. More than this, though, it’s used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat wounds and infected skin, due to its disinfectant and regenerative properties.

It’s no wonder, then, that all this makes it an endangered plant – people are excessively plucking it out of its natural environment so that they can sell it in flower markets or online. But we can save it, together. The world is changing, and so are the people. Being green is becoming the norm. Thankfully, advancements in technology allow many of the industries to follow this trend. Well, not just follow it, they can even support it. Nowhere is this truer than in the beauty industry.

New Call-to-action

Orchistem™ is a flower extract from the Calanthe discolor plant, but the plant stem cells for skin extracted from it are cultivated in the laboratory. This means not only that we keep the orchids in their natural habitat, but it also means that, by placing sustainably obtained products on the market, we’re lowering the need for products that endanger the environment.

How do plant stem cells for skin work?

To cut the long and technical story short and sweet, Orchistem™ activates communication among fat tissue stem cells and fibroblasts – the most common cells of connective tissue that play a critical role in wound healing – which results in greater expression of genes that are essential in preserving the skin extracellular matrix, increased collagen and elastin production and increase in the regenerative potential of fibroblasts.

What does this mean, you may ask? Well, this means that sustainably obtained plant stem cells for skin boost the rejuvenating capabilities of your skin. To put this in numbers, Provital devised two studies to show just how efficient plant stem cells for skin from Orchistem™ are.

The first study involved 44 female volunteers between the ages of 45 and 65, who were suffering from sagging in the lower part of the face, which weakened their facial oval definition. After using Orchistem™ solution for 28 days, an 11 percent volume reduction – typical of a lifting effect and a reaffirmed oval definition – was found, compared to the group using a placebo.

Why use chemicals and toxins, when beauty goes hand-in-hand with healthy, natural products? Besides, by using sustainable and eco-ethical beauty products, you’re not just taking care of your health, but the health of our planet, as well.

The second study involved 26 female volunteers between 40 and 65 years of age. Their faces were showing signs of aging with drooping eyelids and wrinkles around the eyes. This study showed that only 56 days of using Orchistem™ achieves a 7.6% lifting effect, accompanied with the opening of the eyes.

This can be achieved by various surgical procedures, yes. But nature does it better. The ever-increasing number of people embracing this new, green lifestyle know that natural beauty can be both healthy and eco-ethical. Being vegan is not just about food. And we understand this.

Why is sustainability always the better option?

There are further benefits to using Orchistem™ – studies have shown that after 56 days of treatment with plant stem cells for skin, its firmness, elasticity, and radiance are increased by 17, 10 and 13.7%, respectively, while both the visible number of wrinkles and the area covered in wrinkles decrease by up to 15%.

But more than all this data and statistics, Provital believes that the true benefit of sustainable products is their green message – we can mimic and use nature, but we can also conserve it, at the same time. Now more than ever, thanks to global trends and advantages in technology. This is the sustainable future, in which people respect the environment and don’t consume resources that are hardly ever renewable. And in this future, the focus of the beauty industry will be both hi-tech and green. The future starts now.
